Biography
A rowdy, Texas-based alt-country outfit in the vein of bands like Jason the Scorchers and the Old 97's, Vandoliers appeared in the late-2010s with a sound that melded gritty cowpunk with Red Dirt country and bits of Tejano flair. The Dallas-based sextet issued a pair of well-received LPs for regional indie State Fair Records before finding a home on Bloodshot Records, which issued the band's third album, Forever, in 2019.

Following the demise of his punk band, the Phuss, singer/songwriter Joshua Fleming began writing songs that took a greater influence from country music, and he formed Vandoliers in 2015. Populated by veterans of the Dallas-Fort Worth indie scene, Fleming's fellow Vandoliers included Dustin Fleming on guitar and pedal steel, Cory Graves on keys and trumpet, Guyton Sanders on drums, Travis Curry on fiddle, and Mark Moncrieff on bass. Following the independent release of their 2015 debut, Ameri-Kinda, they signed with Dallas-based imprint State Fair Records, which reissued the album in October 2016. Vandoliers followed up in May 2016 with The Native, earning national attention and touring with Reverend Horton Heat and their hometown heroes, the Old 97's. A switch to alt-country specialists Bloodshot Records yielded 2019's Forever, which saw them working in Memphis with producer Adam Hill (Low Cut Connie, Deer Tick). ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
