Dom Dolla was born Dominic Matheson in 1992. The Melbourne-based DJ signed on with the Sweat It Out label in 2015 and started to gain widespread acclaim for his singles, remixes, and live sets. His production on Go Freek's 2015 song "Define" helped it become a club hit, and early tracks of his own like "You" and "Love Like This" gained traction in EDM circles. "You" even generated a set of remixes in 2016. In 2017, Dolla released the joyous single "Be Randy," a collaboration with fellow producer Torren Foot. The song climbed the Australian charts and he followed that success with 2018's "Take It." In addition to playing festivals and smaller parties, Dolla continued to produce strong singles and remixes. His 2019 track "San Frandisco" continued the fun and lively house sound he'd established on earlier hits. As his original track reached more listeners, Dolla was commissioned to do remix work for Hayden James, Dua Lipa, Rufus Du Sol, and many others. He also took his live performances to increasingly larger stages, doing sets at Coachella and other international festivals.
In 2020, Dolla teamed with Sonny Fodera for the gruff hooks and hard-edged house rhythms of new song "Moving Blind." The track quickly accumulated millions in streaming numbers. Over the next few years, more songs materialized in the form of "Pump the Brakes" and "Strangers" (which featured vocals from Mansionair) in 2021 and the anthemic "Miracle Maker" in 2022, with scene-stealing hooks provided by Clementine Douglas. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
