Biography
Born in Memphis, Tennessee in 1992, Xavier Beard began rapping early on, inspired in particular by Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. He began working on music at home, sharing it through online networks and finding himself fully immersed in the world of recording and performance by the end of his teens. Originally performing under the name Ethelwulf, Beard was invited to become a member of the Raider Klan, a hip-hop collective that included SpaceGhostPurrp, Muney Junior, Jitt, and many others. In 2012 he released his debut mixtape, The Wolf Gang's Rodolphe, and quickly produced a score of other mixtapes and collaborations before leaving Raider Klan in early 2013, citing creative differences. Though working under a number of aliases, Beard chose Xavier Wulf as his main moniker and produced new music at a nonstop clip over the next several years. Collaborations with Bones and Chris Travis materialized, as did several mixtapes and a more considered full-length release with 2015's Project X album. Each release saw Xavier Wulf expanding on his style, moving from the dark throwback sounds of earlier work into new territories. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
