Biography
Short-lived all-star rock supergroup the Wondergirls was formed in 1999 in Los Angeles. Bandmembers included Scott Weiland (Stone Temple Pilots), Mark McGrath (Sugar Ray), Ian Astbury (the Cult), Shannon Leto (Thirty Seconds to Mars), Jay Gordon and Ryan Shuck (Orgy), Doug Ardito (Puddle of Mudd), Ken Andrews (Failure), Martyn LeNoble (Porno for Pyros), Troy Van Leeuwen (Queens of the Stone Age), and Ashley Hamilton. Impressive as their roster was, the crew never made it past the release of a handful of songs: the single "Drop That Baby" got a music video, while a cover of Sly Fox's "Let's Go All the Way" was featured on the Celebrity Deathmatch soundtrack (and much later on the 2013 Iron Man 3: Heroes Fall soundtrack, with Robbie Williams on vocals). B-sides "Circles" and "Massive Heart Attack" were also recorded. The Wondergirls disbanded by 2000, with members returning to their original groups. ~ Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi
