Biography
Daughter of Bernardo Felix and Josefina Guereña, Mexican Maria Felix began her acting career in 1942 while playing a role alongside Jorge Negrete in a movie called #El Peñon de las Animas. The talented actress and popular traditional Mexican music singer became an international movie star after participating in 1954's #French Cancan, directed by Jean Renoir. Nicknamed "La Doña" after playing a star part in #Doña Barbara, based on a book by Romulo Gallegos, Maria Felix ended her successful cinematographic career in the early '70s.

In the music field, singer/songwriter Agustín Lara composed for her the local classic Maria Bonita. Surprisingly, the Latin diva recorded Enamorada in 1998 at the age of 84. On March 7, 2002, La Doña performed live for the last time, along with Latin pop singer Luis Miguel. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
