Karl Anton Eckert

Biography
Violinist, composer, pianist and conductor who studied under Mendelssohn and went to Italy under orders of the King of Prussia. Eckert accompanied the Italian Theatre in Paris after a trip to America with Sontag. The final sequence of events in his pilgrimmage brought him the conductorship of the Vienna court opera, and in Stuttgart, followed by Berlin, he was appointed Kapellmeister.
