Biography
Though Kraftwerk released little during the 1990s, one of its former members, Karl Bartos, produced some very Kraftwerk-esque synth pop during the decade as Elektric Music. He wasn't an original member of the pioneering German electronic group (Florian Schneider and Ralf Hütter were the core duo), but Bartos played on Kraftwerk records from 1975's Radio-Activity until 1986's Electric Cafe. He left in 1990, and though Kraftwerk produced no more music during the late '80s or '90s, Bartos formed his own project named Elektric Music, debuting with the 1992 single "Crosstalk." One year later, first album Esperanto included work by OMD's Andy McCluskey. Bartos collaborated with Bernard Sumner and Johnny Marr in the supergroup Electronic during 1996-1997, then released his next album Electric Music, a much more pop-oriented project than expected. ~ John Bush, Rovi
