Biography
A vocalist with a warm voice, high pitch, and just a little bit of a Swedish accent when singing in English, Hasse Fröberg fronted a handful of hard rock bands before joining prog rockers the Flower Kings as a full-time member.

Born January 4, 1964, he turned to music early, first playing guitar and drums in local pop/rock bands around the age of 15. In one of these bands, he volunteered to sing lead when no one else would and he stuck to this role ever since. He formed Spellbound in 1983, a heavy rock group for which he wrote most of the material together with guitarist Jocke Marsh. Spellbound recorded two albums in 1984 and 1985 and disbanded in 1988.

Fröberg then went on tour with Highway Stars, a comical '70s show, and formed Solid Blue which toured heavily in Sweden from 1993 to 1995. The band released one CD (Volume 3) on the Flower Kings Roine Stolt's label Foxtrot Music. In the meantime, he worked as a session vocalist for numerous artists, including Stolt's 1994 solo album The Flower King. He was asked to guest on a few tracks for the Flower Kings' 1996 CD Retropolis and again on the 1997 two-CD set Stardust We Are, at which point he was asked to join the band on a permanent basis. His higher range and softer emotional palette completed Stolt's, while both voices blended marvelously in harmonies. He joined the band on stage for the first time in May 1997, providing back vocals, occasional lead vocals, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and some percussion. He gradually took a more prominent role in the band and the 1999 Flower Power included one of his songs, Magic Pie. The same year, his other band Barrelhouse, a Led Zeppelin-derived hard rock outfit, released their first CD. ~ François Couture, Rovi
