Biography
Los Angeles-based vocalist Phyllis St. James was a prolific composer in the early '80s. She wrote songs for Norman Connors, Jean Carne, Rodney Franklin, and The Jones Girls, among others, before signing her own deal with Motown in 1984. Her lone LP fizzled, and St. James turned to session work. She did background vocals on albums by Franklin, Randy Crawford, and Atlantic Starr, among others. ~ Ron Wynn, Rovi
