As the first mainland Chinese DJ to perform at Tomorrowland, singer/songwriter and electronic producer Chace made a quick ascent just a year after his debut. Born in Yancheng, Jiangsu Province in 1998, Chace began songwriting and producing in his early teens, first honing his voice with a cappella and then developing his bilingual abilities by absorbing English-language television, movies, and music. Raised in a musical family -- he drummed with his father, who performed electronic music -- he attended the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, studying production and audio engineering. However, before graduating, he dropped out to pursue music full-time. An early influence was David Guetta, but after hearing Swedish House Mafia, Chace was hooked. Attracted to the bustling Shanghai nightlife, he quickly became part of the scene, catching the ears of Dutch duo Yellow Claw. They issued Chace's debut EP, Destination, on their Barong Family label in 2016. Riding the success of the single "Stronger," Chace followed with "For a Day," a collaboration with another Dutch duo, Moksi. In 2017, Chace released his sophomore EP, Definition, which featured "Something About You" with vocals by Yade Lauren. Later that year, the Connections EP arrived. A full collaborative effort with Moksi, Connections was home to another Yade Lauren track, "Lucky." Weeks later, Chace made his debut at Tomorrowland. ~ Neil Z. Yeung, Rovi
