Born in 1997 and raised in Whitley Bay near Newcastle upon Tyne, England, Olivia Rebecca Devine became interested in music at a young age. By her teens she was posting songs online, including a cover of Beyonce´'s "Mine" that caught the attention of producer Mickey Valen, who encouraged her work. Subsequently, she relocated to London, where she and Valen produced her debut EP, 2017's Growing Pains. Included was the single "School Girls," which found an audience online and drew favorable comparisons to artists like Robyn, Dua Lipa, and Tove Lo.
Devine returned in 2018 with a second EP, Peer Pressure, which featured the multi-million streamer "Nervous," and she garnered her biggest streaming numbers yet with a featured spot on the Route 94 track "Sad Songs" the following year. Back on her own, she issued the companion EPs Near Life Experience, Pt. 1 and Near Life Experience, Pt. 2 in the second half of 2021. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
