Violinist David Nebel rose to prominence with several prizes in the late 2010s and was signed to the Sony Classical label, releasing his first album in 2020. He was a founding member of the LGT Young Soloists ensemble.

Nebel was born in Zurich in 1996 and took up the violin at age five. He attended the Zurich Conservatory and then moved to Austria for studies with Boris Kuschnir in Vienna and Yair Kleiss in Graz. In 2013, Nebel became a founding member of the LGT Young Soloists, a string orchestra created to give gifted string players from ages 14 to 23 experience in a high-quality ensemble setting. Nebel has continued studying with Alexander Gilman, the founder of that group. Three prizes put Nebel on bookers' radar: he became the youngest-ever prize winner at Italy's Valsesia Musica Violin Competition in 2014; took first prize of the Istvàn Kertész Competition in Switzerland (winning a scholarship in 2015); and two years later, won the Symphony Orchestra of Radio Television of Serbia Competition for Young Soloists, performing Bottesini’s Gran Duo Concertante for violin and double bass with Dusan Kostic. Since then, Nebel has toured Europe and Asia and has even appeared with orchestras as far afield as the Cape Town Philharmonic, in whose fall season-opening concert he appeared in 2017. He has appeared at such halls as the Liederhalle Stuttgart, the Palais Liechtenstein Vienna, and the Shenzhen Concert Hall. The year 2018 brought Nebel twin advances: he played the world premiere of the Violin Concerto No. 1 by composer Gediminas Gelgotas at the Kissinger Sommerfest in Germany, with the Baltic Sea Philharmonic under Kristjan Järvi, and he became a fellow of Germany's Young Artists Foundation.

Nebel was signed to Sony Classical and released his debut album (again with Järvi and the Baltic Sea Philharmonic), featuring the Stravinsky Violin Concerto and Philip Glass' first Violin Concerto, in 2020.
