Biography
John Krautner is a rock musician based in Detroit, Michigan. Growing up in the suburb of Royal Oak, he formed a high-school band with friend and drummer Marc Fellis, who, along with singer/guitarist Bobby Harlow, would later find success with the influential garage band the Go. Beginning in 1998, Krautner, Harlow, and, for the first two years, Jack White made up the primary songwriting core of the Go, who made their debut on Sub Pop Records. After White left in 1999 (to focus on the White Stripes), Krautner and Harlow would remain as the band's creative force, with Krautner playing both bass and guitar and splitting vocal duties with Harlow. Although they only released two more LPs over the next decade, the Go have been considered one of Detroit's premier rock acts. They have issued a number of singles and EPs on a variety of different labels including the eclectic West Coast indie Burger Records, who released Krautner and Harlow's 2010 psych project Conspiracy of Owls. In 2014 Krautner made his solo debut on a split EP release with the Detroit band Feelings. He followed it up in early 2015 with his first solo LP, Fun with Gum, Vol. 1, on Burger Records. ~ Timothy Monger, Rovi
