Biography
The Five Breezes was the first performing group organized by Willie Dixon, after the singer/songwriter/bassist decided to abandon his boxing career. The other members of the Chicago-based quintet were Leonard Caston, Jimmy Gilmore, Joe Bell, and Willie Hawthorne. Their sound was patterned after the Ink Spots, and they got lots of work in the years before the war. They broke up soon after America entered the Second World War, and Dixon and Caston later formed the Big Three Trio. ~ Bruce Eder, Rovi
