Biography
Jack Ruby (born Lawrence Lindo) was an important reggae producer in the mid-'70s, noted for his use of horn arrangements in particular. His most outstanding credit is Burning Spear's Marcus Garvey album, and he also worked with Big Youth, the Heptones, the Gaylads, and Justin Hinds, among numerous other acts. Suffering from ill health, he became less prolific in the 1980s, and died in 1989. A generous sampling of his work is available on the Heartbeat compilation Jack Ruby Presents the Black Foundation. ~ Richie Unterberger, Rovi
