Biography
Hungarian rock band Hooligans broke through to mainstream success in 2003 with the album Szenzáció and its several hit singles. Subsequent albums by the band were commercial blockbusters, hitting the upper reaches of the Hungarian charts and spawning several singles each. Founded in 1996 in Szerencs, Hungary, the band is comprised of Ördög Tibor (vocals; born on November 5, 1970, in Szerencs), Tóth Tibor (guitar; born on October 30, 1969, in Sátoraljaújhely), Kiss Endre (drums; born on September 21, 1970, in Miskolc), and Késmárki Zsolt (bass; born on March 8, 1980, in Budapest). Hooligans made their album debut in 1997 with Nem Hall, Nem Lát, Nem Beszél, followed by Mesét, Álmot, Mámort in 1998 and Kánaán in 2001. Hooligans' fourth album, Szenzáció (2003), brought the band mainstream success. It topped the Hungarian albums chart and spawned the singles Királylány, Játszom, and Legyen Valami. The follow-up albums Vírus (2005) and Bohémélet (2006) were also chart-toppers, spawning the hit singles Szabadon, Menj Tovább, Noben a Boldogság, Félember, and Rajtad Múlt. The commercial success of Hooligans waned a bit over time, yet the band remained reliably popular in later years. Seventh album Privát Mennyország (2008) hit the upper reaches of the Hungarian charts, for instance, and spawned the singles Eljátszott Gyémánt and Ringass El. ~ Jason Birchmeier, Rovi
