Biography
Andy Powell (b. 1950) began playing guitar in 1961. He played in numerous London-based bands for the next eight years, hooking up with Wishbone Ash at their formation in 1969. Their self-titled first album came out the next year. The only permanent member in the band, Powell still found the time to work on projects with other musicians ranging from George Harrison and Ringo Starr to Stewart Copeland and even Renaissance during a time when the group was no longer together. They reunited in 1987, and, although he has been involved in other projects as well, he really is still the heart of Wishbone Ash. ~ Gary Hill, Rovi
