Biography
Though she had already won accolades for her acting in movies like Brokeback Mountain, Rachel Getting Married, and The Dark Knight Rises, there was little inkling that Anne Hathaway could also sing until she snagged the role of Fantine in director Tom Hooper's 2012 film adaptation of the blockbuster 1980 musical Les Misérables. As Fantine, Hathaway sang one of the show's quintessential songs, "I Dreamed a Dream." Along with winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress, in early 2013 she earned chart success with "I Dreamed a Dream": the song spent three weeks on Billboard's Hot 100 chart, as well as entering the charts in the U.K,. Canada, Spain, and Ireland, among other countries. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
