Osayaba Andrew Ize-Iyamu, who operates under the moniker Cruel Santino (and has also performed as Ozzy B and Santi) emerged in the late 2010s with an eclectic, yet accessible style that quickly put him at the forefront of the genre-hopping Nigerian Alté movement. His acclaimed debut album, Mandy the Jungle, which employed a streamlined blend of Nigerian roots music, dancehall, processed rap, and R&B, arrived in 2019. The epic, 21-track concept album Subaru Boys: Final Heaven, appeared in 2022.

Raised on the Western sounds of '90s R&B, alternative rock, and hip-hop, Cruel Santino initially began rapping under the name Ozzy B. Inspired by tough-to-pigeonhole artists like Drake, Ja Rule, and Nigerian rapper M.I. Abaga, he released a handful of mixtapes, including 2016's Suzie's Funeral under the Ozzy B guise, before adopting the Santi nom de plume for 2019's Mandy the Jungle, which featured guests spots from DRAM, Tay Iwar, Shane Eagle, Kida Kudz, and GoldLink, among others. After signing to Interscope and founding his Monster Boy imprint in 2020, he debuted as Cruel Santino that June with the track "End of the Wicked."
