Raised on the Western sounds of '90s R&B, alternative rock, and hip-hop, Cruel Santino initially began rapping under the name Ozzy B. Inspired by tough-to-pigeonhole artists like Drake, Ja Rule, and Nigerian rapper M.I. Abaga, he released a handful of mixtapes, including 2016's Suzie's Funeral under the Ozzy B guise, before adopting the Santi nom de plume for 2019's Mandy the Jungle, which featured guests spots from DRAM, Tay Iwar, Shane Eagle, Kida Kudz, and GoldLink, among others. After signing to Interscope and founding his Monster Boy imprint in 2020, he debuted as Cruel Santino that June with the track "End of the Wicked." Two years later, he released the ambitious Subaru Boys: Final Heaven, a sci-fi concept LP that included features from Skepta, Amaarae, Koffee, and Gus Dapperton. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
