Biography
Mark McGee is a Bay Area guitar virtuoso, singer, instructor, and producer known for his work with Overdrive, Now, Starcastle, Vicious Rumours, Gregg Allman, Alameda All Stars, and Luvplanet.

Born in Oakland and raised in nearby Alameda, McGee took up the six-string at the age of 11, having been inspired by rock behemoths like Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin, Kiss, and Queen. A working musician since the late '70s, McGee spent his teenage years opening for bands like Metallica, Quiet Riot, and Ratt while performing with the hard rock bands Overdrive, Now, and Starcastle. In 1986, he joined the San Francisco heavy metal band Vicious Rumors. After nine years, multiple albums (with videos airing on MTV), and several world tours, McGee left Vicious Rumors to join up with Gregg Allman in 1995, where he would spend the next decade as the band's lead/slide guitarist. During this time, he also played with the San Francisco blues/funk/rock/R&B band, Alameda All Stars. In the early 2000s, he formed the versatile rock, jam, pop, blues, and country group Luvplanet with vocalist Nicole Sutton. The band issued an eponymous debut album in 2003, followed by a string of wide-ranging efforts like State of Mind (2005), Lucky One (2008), Luvolution (2010), Rivertown (2016), and Something Good (2020). Throughout the decades, McGee has collaborated with many artists, including Stu Hamm, Mickey Thomas (Starship), and Brad Gillis (Night Ranger). ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
