Biography
The winner of a prestigious national contest of Flamenco arts in 1976, Jose de la Tomasa (born: Manuel Price Torre) has continued to influence the Flamenco tradition. Accompanied by virtuoso guitar players, Juan and Paco del Gastor, Tomasa joined with Flamenco vocalists Maria La Burra and Maria Solea to record the historic album Cante Gitano: Gypsy Flaneco From Andalucia in 1988. Tomasa inherited his talents from his mother, Thomasa, who sang professionally. He trained with his grandfather's brother, the influential Flamenco vocalist, Manuel Torre. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
