Things have gotten so bad

My wife got up one day and said "Man I'm through"

It wouldn't have been so bad, but my girlfriend quit me too
I got laid off my job, recession is the blame
On my way to the compensation board
I met an old flame

She said, "Eddie baby, things again will never be the same"
When I finally received my check, guess what
They had misspelled my name
I went over to see a buddy, just to get a little loan
When I got back, only two hours later
All, all my clothes were gone
I saw a mysterious looking character
Slumped down in a car all alone
I was going to call the police
They had cut off my telephone

I had to run and catch the bus
Although I had a little snort
I went to pay my fare
I can't believe I was a dime short
A boy with a radio
He had it really blowing
The bus moved so slow
I forgot where I was going
I got mad with the bus driver
For letting me stay

As soon as I hitch hiked a ride
The damn car broke down
I walked across the highway
To see of there was any car in sight
The police came up and arrested me
For jaywalking at night
