Santa Clara, California – December 20, 2012 – SoundHound, the revolutionary sound search company with more than 100 million users around the world, today revealed its list of the most shared songs and artists of 2012.
Perhaps not surprising, given the commercial success of the track, Belgium-Australian singer Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used to Know' was far and away the song most shared by SoundHound users, followed by fun.'s power ballad, 'We Are Young' as a distant second.
Among top shared artists, Adele paced this year's list, followed closely by Rihanna and Flo Rida.
SoundHound sound search and music discovery emphasizes a social music experience by enabling its users to instantly share a newly discovered song or artist with friends through social networks like Facebook and Twitter or directly via email and text message.

SoundHound's top list of shared songs was compiled by counting the number of times a song was shared through any of the channels available to the SoundHound user. The complete list of SoundHound's 10 most shared songs of 2012 is:

In addition to sharing recently discovered songs, SoundHound users can also recommend artists to their friends using the same sharing tools, giving friends direct access to the artist's SoundHound page which features biographical information, top songs, lyrics and the option to purchase tracks, ringtones or launch a Pandora station.
