Biography
Inspired by the soft rock trappings of '70s FM radio gods like Fleetwood Mac and ABBA, Swedish/American supergroup Liv formed in 2016. The group was made up of core members of the Swedish art and music collective Ingrid: vocalist Lykke Li, known for her own solo work, producer Jeff Bhasker, Peter Bjorn and John member Björn Yttling, and Miike Snow members Pontus Winnberg and Andrew Wyatt. The group's formation coincided with the early stages of Li's pregnancy. The band performed live almost exclusively at first, playing a private party in April of 2016 and then a set at a conference a few months later. Their debut single, "Wings of Love," was released in late September that same year, and a month later, they issued a reworked mix of the track with additional vocals by singer Jasbir Jassi. Immediately following that remix, they released a second single, "Dream Awake," but waited until June of the next year to issue their third single, "Heaven." In interviews around the time of these singles, Liv hinted at having more than an album's worth of material recorded, awaiting both the perfect title and timing. ~ Fred Thomas, Rovi
