Biography
Robert Hood's work as Monobox, much like his output under his own name, is stripped down and boldly futuristic, yet warm and full of life. The Detroit-born minimal techno pioneer first began using the alias for a series of singles beginning in the mid-'90s, with debut full-length Molecule appearing in 2003. The project was sporadically revived, and second album Regenerate arrived in 2021.

The first Monobox EP, Realm, appeared on Hood's M-Plant label in 1996, followed by Downtown in 1997. Population appeared in 2001, and the project moved to French label Logistic Records for the release of the 2003 full-length Molecule. The album's tracks were subsequently remixed by Ricardo Villalobos, Matthew Dear, Akufen, and other producers on the CD Molecule (The Remixes) and several vinyl EPs. Monobox returned to M-Plant in 2014 with the Film 12". Forwardbase Kodai EP, including a remix by Ø [Phase], appeared in 2021, preceding the second Monobox album, Regenerate. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
