Biography
Singer/songwriter Kristina Train is a soulful vocalist with a bent toward earthy country- and R&B-inflected pop music. Born in New York City and raised in Savannah, Georgia, Train grew up singing in church and taking violin lessons. In 1999, she joined the soul outfit the Looters, often backing vocalist Rosa King on tour. At age 19, she attracted the attention of Blue Note Records, who wanted to sign her to a recording contract. Train decided instead to attend college and spent a few years performing locally while studying in Athens at the University of Georgia. Eventually, however, she left school and moved to New York City. Once again, Blue Note pursued her and this time she signed a contract. She relocated to England and began work on material with producer Jimmy Hogarth, and songwriters Eg White (Adele) and Ed Harcourt. In 2009, she released her debut album, Spilt Milk. In 2012, Train paired with Harcourt again for her sophomore effort, Dark Black. ~ Matt Collar, Rovi
