The D.C. area-based MC Xanman made a name for himself with a prolific run of mixtapes, combining a mix of trap and drill with a dose of humor, before issuing his 2020 release, I'm a Bad Person.

As a rising figure of the DMV rap scene, Xanman first became interested in music after his uncle --who had drummed for various high-profile artists -- introduced him to the industry. A meeting with Lil Wayne when he was 12 cemented his love of hip-hop and Xanman started to produce beats and rap while still at school. Making his mark on the DMV scene, his use of witty lyrics crossed with dark humor and underlined by trap beats quickly propelled him from a high school rapper to a leading light. 2016 saw him drop his first mixtape, No Plug, before following it up with a slew of tapes over the next couple of years, including 2017's It's Not Me, 2018's Hey Shootah, and 2019's Broken.
