Spanish Fly is an interesting grouping of three of downtown N.Y.C. and the Knitting Factory scene's outstanding musicians. The group's instrumentation is of immediate interest with Marcus Rojas' tuba serving as bass and the trumpet of Steven Bernstein and "processed slide- guitar" of David Tronzo serving as high register instruments. All three players have long and diverse resumes, having worked with many of avant-garde jazz's highly regarded veterans. Steven Bernstein's Sex Mob and the Tronzo Trio have continued to gain critical praise internationally although the prolific working and recording schedules of all three musicians have made Spanish Fly releases few. ~ Wilson McCLoy, Rovi
