Biography
Lord Flea (born Norman Thomas) was one of the originators of modern calypso. Allegedly dubbed "Calypso king of Jamaica" in 1951, Lord Flea appeared in American-made films such as Bop Girl Goes Calypso and Calypso Joe. In the late-'50s, Lord Flea was featured, along with Lord Kitchener, in New York as a member of Geoffrey Holder's revue, Caribbean Festival. Accompanied by his band, The Calypsonians, Lord Flea recorded an album, Swingin' Calypsos, for Capitol in 1957. ~ Craig Harris, Rovi
