Biography
One of the ten sons of Domingos Palmieri and Idalina Falba, Raul and his brother Jacó were members of the fundamental group Os Oito Batutas, which was led by Pixinguinha, his brother China, and Donga, among others. He was with the group since its opening April 7, 1919, in Cine Palais (Rio) until late 1921, when he was asked to leave. He wasn't, therefore, at the historic season of the Batutas at the French nightclub Scheherazade, for which they departed from Rio on January 29, 1922.
