Biography
The Shadowboxers are an R&B-infused pop ensemble noted for their three-part vocal harmonies and soft rock veneer. Originally a trio formed in 2008 by singer/musicians Adam Hoffman, Matt Lipkins, and Scott Schwartz, all then students at Emory University in Atlanta, they got their first record deal after coming to the attention of the Indigo Girls' Emily Saliers at a dinner gathering. RCAM Records released the band's debut LP, the Brady Blade-produced Red Room, in early 2013. In the meantime, they had added bassist Carlos Enamorado and drummer Cole McSween to the official lineup, and later that year, the quintet posted a video cover of Justin Timberlake's "Pusher Love Girl" on YouTube. It quickly drew praise from the pop superstar himself via Twitter and racked up six-figure views. The group continued to post a series of live cover videos and maintained a dedicated touring schedule while working on new music, and in late 2014, the Shadowboxers announced a decision to relocate to Nashville, where their business teams were based. Their first original material in three years, the single "Woman Through the Wall," appeared in the spring of 2016, followed in August by the funky single "Build the Beat." The Shadowboxers returned in September 2017 with the sleek "Hot Damn!" single. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
