DJ Feelgood, otherwise known as Charles Feelgood, is an icon in the Baltimore, MD, club scene. Incorporating sounds from disco, funk, and Latin music, Feelgood quickly gained a reputation as one of electronica's most exciting turntable craftsmen. Born Charles Fields, Feelgood was raised on a diet of funk and disco records that his father constantly played. By the late '80s, Feelgood was throwing dance parties under the pseudonym House of Fields. In 1992, he co-founded the legendary Fever raves in Baltimore with fellow DJ Scott Henry, introducing house and techno to the region. Fever was held biweekly until 2001 and attracted acclaimed DJs such as Paul Van Dyk and Carl Cox. Fever brought national recognition to the area's underground dance scene and helped launch Feelgood into mass acceptance. His series of mix tapes, Time to Get Ill, further increased his status and popularity within the rave community. Feelgood started his own label, Charm City Records, in 1993 and released several albums. He was voted Best DJ by the Baltimore City Paper in 1996. In 1997, Feelgood collaborated with producer Nardy Teal as Partners in Crime. Partners in Crime remixed songs from other artists as well as produced their own. Feelgood eventually signed with Moonshine Records; his Moonshine debut, Can You Feel It, appeared in 2000.
