German rock roll revivalists Spider Murphy Gang took their name from Elvis Presley's fictional saxophone player in the song Jailhouse Rock. The Munich-based collective's rootsy, bar band sound did surprisingly well amidst the early-'80s German new wave scene, scoring Top Ten hits with Skandal im Sperrbezirk and Schui Tog.
