Biography
The Wayward Band was first formed in 2013 by folk artist Eliza Carthy to tour her career-spanning collection The Wayward Daughter. The singer/songwriter managed to pull together some of the most notable names of the U.K.'s folk scene to make up the band. The ensemble included Sam Sweeny (Bellowhead) on fiddle, David Delarre (Mawkin) on guitar, Willy Molleson (Peatbog Fearies) on drums, and Barn Stradling (Blowzabella) on bass. Following a successful tour that saw them quickly become festival favorites, Carthy and the group set about recording an album. In 2016 Big Machine was released, a collection that showcased a wide range of traditional music. The record included traditional ballads alongside contemporary folk tunes, including Carthy's self-penned "You Know Me." ~ Bekki Bemrose, Rovi
