Biography
Mexican singer/songwriter Alejandro Filio started getting involved in the local movement known as Nueva Trova Mexicana by the end of the 1970s, self-producing his first albums Filio, En Esta Immensidad, and Caín. To make his acclaimed Secreto a Voces, the artist moved to Spain, Cuba, and Argentina, recording with prominent artists such as Silvio Rodríguez and Víctor Manuel. In addition, his compositions have been recorded by popular Latin singers Ricardo Montaner and Manuel Mijares, among others. On February 22, 1998, his live performance at Chihuahua's Teatro de Cámara was released under the name of ...Un Secreto en Vivo. That same year he co-founded Lundra Producciones with Maru Bayardo and the Random Records label to issue the album Secreto a Voces, which featured 14 duets with artists from as many countries (it was reissued in 2006). Since that time, Filio has issued some 17 albums including 1999's Hermano Lobo, 2001's Mujer Que Camina, 2008's Pionero de Guerra (as well as the live En Buenos Aires), 2011's Buscando el Alma, and 2014's Se Trata de Sentir. Filio's songs have been covered by a number of artists including Eduardo Palomo and Elisa Rego. In 2005, several of his songs appeared within the plot of Salvador Ruiz Velasco's novel, La Perla del Obispo en Indias. ~ Drago Bonacich, Rovi
