Biography
Chuck Wild is a Los Angeles-based composer, producer, and instrumentalist who is best known for his popular long-running ambient relaxation music project, Liquid Mind. Prior to launching the Liquid Mind series in the mid-'90s, Wild had already established a diverse career in pop music as a member of new wave band Missing Persons, an industry songwriter with credits ranging from the Pointer Sisters to Philip Bailey, and a go-to session music. He has also composed frequently for television and film. Although he has continued to work in various mediums, Wild's primary focus since the late-'90s has been the Liquid Mind albums, which as of 2020 includes 13 volumes.

Wild was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, studying classical piano and singing in both a cappella groups and choirs. His love for music only intensified as he studied music history at the University of Kansas, where he also sang in the university choir. He next spent four years in the U.S. Navy and in 1979 relocated to L.A., where he joined up with the new wave band Missing Persons, playing keyboards on their early albums.

By the mid-'80s, Wild was once again on his own, focusing on songwriting and doing session work with artists ranging from Frank Zappa to Paula Abdul. Over the years, dozens of his original songs were either recorded for albums or used in television and film -- such renowned artists as the Pointer Sisters, Tommy Page, Timothy Leary, Jennifer Rush, Thelma Houston, Glenn Medeiros, and Philip Bailey have recorded songs by Wild. He was also hired as staff songwriter for Lorimar Telepictures and Warner/Chappell Music, during which time he co-wrote the music for the Emmy-winning (but short-lived) ABC series Max Headroom. He also co-wrote the score for the Academy Award-winning film The Panama Deception.

After a period during which he suffered from severe anxiety and panic attacks, Wild turned to composing ambient relaxation music as part of his personal therapy. Released in 1994, Ambience Minimus marked the first release under his Liquid Mind imprint, and it proved to be a major success, yielding numerous follow-up releases that consistently charted on Billboard's new age chart over the following decades as Wild became increasingly active in the field of music therapy. Meanwhile, he also continued to write and contribute outside of the new age genre, collaborating with Michael Jackson on the ambitious HIStory: Past, Present and Future, Book I collection and earning a Daytime Emmy nomination for his work on the ABC series One Life to Live. By and large, though, Liquid Mind remained Wild's most popular and visible endeavor and continued through the 2010s and into 2020 with his 13th release, Liquid Mind XIII: Mindfulness. ~ Timothy Monger & Greg Prato, Rovi
