Indians
from Copenhagen, Denmark
Biography
Both wistfully understated and willfully eclectic, Danish indie pop outfit Indians was formed as a solo vehicle for Copenhagen-based singer/songwriter/one-man band Søren Løkke Juul. Steeped in the ghostly synth pop atmospherics of his fellow countrymen Efterklang, but leaning harder on the indie pop sensibilities of more traditional, song-oriented contemporaries like Beirut, Gravenhurst, and Choir of Young Believers, Juul performed his first show under the Indians moniker in 2012, just months after inking a deal with 4AD. Indians' debut album, Somewhere Else, arrived the following year. ~ James Christopher Monger, Rovi
