Biography
With a raspy quality to his voice, a bluesy melodic sensibility, and a guitar in hand, U.K. singer/songwriter James Gillespie became a viral sensation in 2017 with intimate singles such as "What You Do."

Born in England, raised in Scotland, and based in London, Gillespie found steady employment on the European summer and U.K. folk festival circuits for several years before releasing his official debut single. He toured with Turin Brakes in 2014; by that time, he had secured endorsements for his guitar and pedal station as well as voice-related electronics. However, it was his single "What You Do," released in February 2017, that first brought him to the attention of an audience numbering in the millions. Later the same year, his cover of P!nk's "Don't Let Me Get Me" also went viral, and he was invited to join the pop star on-stage during select tour stops. In 2018, singles like "Dead in the Water" and "Lost" kept him in the playlist rotation. When it came time for Gillespie to record his full-length debut, he called on Two Inch Punch (Sam Smith, Years Years) and regular collaborator Andy Hall Hall to co-produce. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
