Known as Thomas Mapfumo's guitarist, Sithole started his career by playing with a number of bands. He played bass in the Jairos Jiri Kwela Kings with his brother, then played guitar in the Limpopo Jazz Band, the Great Sounds, and the Pepsi Combo. He met Thomas Mapfumo in 1978, and the two played together in a short-lived band called the Black Spirits. They reunited soon after the band's demise in Blacks Unlimited, using the core of Sithole's band, and the Sithole/Mapfumo team has been unstoppable ever since. ~ Steve Huey, Rovi
