Biography
To look at the production credits on Vibert/Simmonds' only album, the listener is led to believe that the act is a duo consisting of Luke Vibert and Jeremy Simmonds. In a confusing act of techno subterfuge, however, Vibert is the only one responsible for the 1993 LP on Rephlex. It was his first album, and stands as the most idiosyncratic release in an incredibly diverse discography. Present are none of the hip-hop influences of his later work. Instead, Weirs is nine tracks of bracing industrial techno typical of the Aphex Twin's Rephlex label. The illusory Jeremy Simmonds disappeared by the time of Vibert's next release later in 1993, Wagon Christ's Phat Lab Nightmare. ~ John Bush, Rovi
