Biography
The career of singer/songwriter, guitarist, and harmonica player Little Victor (born Victor Macoggi) started at the tender age of 14 and included a blues apprenticeship via a club residency with Uncle Ben Perry on Memphis' legendary Beale Street. After recording demos with Alex Chilton and then with Howlin' Wolf's guitarist, Hubert Sumlin, the dapper-dressed Victor released his debut long-player in 1994, Cuttin' Out. This was followed by Space Shuttle two years later and involvement in a French documentary on R.L Burnside, Un Jour Avec...R.L. Burnside (1999), with blues chanteuse Sophie Kay, a collaboration that also yielded a couple of albums.

The "King of Grit" continued to issue acclaimed releases of old-school juke joint R&B in the 2000s, before hooking up with the late blues legend (and childhood hero) Louisiana Red. The pair issued the award-winning Back to the Black Bayou in 2009, repeating the success with Memphis Mojo a couple of years later. In between, Little Victor released Boogie All Night (on the Barcelona-based El Toro label), featuring blues harp maestro Bob Corritore. In 2013 Victor guested on a couple of tracks on Spanish bluesmen Pig Fat's Shadow of the Night album. ~ Matthew Garbutt, Rovi
