Biography
Recalling 1970s soft rock groups like Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles, Mulberry Lane is a sweetly melodic, harmony-driven vocal quartet consisting of four sisters from Omaha, NE. Sisters Heather, Rachel, Jaymie and Allie took the name Mulberry Lane from the street they grew up on in Omaha, where all of them started singing together as children with some encouragement from their mother, a local jazz and big band singer. The sisters were teen-agers when they performed at the Nebraska State Fair and met someone from Triangle Talent, a booking agency. That meeting led to a development deal with PolyGram, and they traveled to Nashville to record with such country producers as Harold Shedd and Rob Galbraith. But that deal fell through because, they were told, they "weren't country enough, " although their soft rock/adult contemporary does contain country elements. The sisters continued to perform around Omaha after reaching adulthood, and in 1998, they recorded their first album, Don't Cry 'Til You Get to the Car, and released it themselves. After selling over 10,000 copies of that album, Mulberry Lane was signed by Refuge/MCA and recorded Run Your Own Race, which came out in 1999. Two years later, Fabu arrived. ~ Alex Henderson, Rovi
