Biography
Singer/songwriter Mark Stuart was the founder of the Bastard Sons of Johnny Cash, an alt-country band whose name had Cash's approval. After three albums -- Walk Alone (2001), Distance Between (2002), and Mile Markers (2005) -- Stuart relocated from the West Coast to Austin, TX, and the group changed its name to Mark Stuart the Bastard Sons. The lineup, featuring Stuart on vocals and guitar, Lars Albrecht on guitar, Vance Hazen on bass and vocals, and Jim Adair on drums and vocals, toured the American West in June and July 2009 with dates in Europe in July and August in anticipation of the September 22 release of the first album under the Mark Stuart the Bastard Sons name, Bend in the Road, on Texacali Records. ~ William Ruhlmann, Rovi
