Lavender Grove
Biography
Lavender Grove grew out of the mod-psychedelic band the Game, who did a few decent Who-ish tracks on obscure British singles that have been reissued on numerous U.K. "freakbeat" compilations. Two unreleased tracks that Lavender Grove recorded in 1968, Lavender Grove and When I Was Young (both written by Game founder Terry Spencer), appeared on the 1995 Game CD compilation It's Shocking What They Call Us. With their crunchy guitars and poppy melodies, both are similar to the work of the Game, though not as good as the best Game singles. ~ Richie Unterberger, Rovi
