Scott Allen
Biography
Scott Allen's musical career began in earnest in late 1998 when he joined Michigan's Red Shirt Brigade at the age of 14. As the band's keyboard player, Allen infused a youthful energy into the band's live shows. His frantic keyboard style quickly found a place in the band's sound, and his boundless energy garnered rave reviews at the band's concerts. In 2001, Allen released his 10-song, self-titled solo album. Recorded at Michigan's Our Leisure Studios with Allen's producer-father Brad Allen, the disc compiled his solo efforts from 1999-2001. After debuting as a solo artist at the 2001 Detroit Summer Smash music festival, Allen began performing with a revolving set of musicians as Scott Allen the Breakdance in 2002. That same year, Suburban Sprawl Records released his sophomore album, The Selfish Sweetness, a 14-track effort that showcased Allen's continuing maturation as a songwriter. Still in 2002, Allen joined Michigan's Summersault, after having produced the band's debut CD. ~ Stephen Cramer, Rovi
