Biography
With their breezy blend of pop, hip-hop, and R&B, boy band trio LFO rose to fame in the '90s scoring a Top Ten hit with their song "Summer Girls." The single helped land their debut, 1999's LFO, at number 21 on the Billboard 200. However, following 2001's Life Is Good, the group parted ways. LFO eventually reunited before illness took the lives of two members in the 2010s. Founding member Brad Fischetti continues to tour and perform, carrying on the group's legacy.

LFO (an acronym for Lyte Funkie Ones) formed in 1995 in the boy band mecca of Orlando, Florida. There, singer Rich Cronin befriended aspiring model Brad Fischetti, and the duo spent the next two years honing their vocal, dancing, and songwriting skills. With the addition of third vocalist Devin Lima, LFO's lineup was complete, and the trio toured in support of the Backstreet Boys and *NSYNC before releasing their eponymously titled debut, LFO, in 1999. The hooky, lighthearted pop song "Summer Girls" -- which referenced the teen-based clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch in its lyrics, thus enhancing the song's appeal with LFO's teenaged audience -- became a Top Five single that summer. The follow-up single "Girl on TV" enjoyed similar success, and LFO remained on the road for the bulk of two years, performing alongside the likes of Britney Spears while their debut climbed to platinum status.

The trio returned to the recording studio in 2001, looking to chart more hits with the release of Life Is Good, but the album failed to yield another Top 40 hit, landing at 75 on the Billboard 200. By the following year, the group had broken up, and bandmembers were active with other projects. Fischetti formed several short-lived groups and appeared on the VH-1 show Mission: Man Band. Lima released a cover of Sly the Family Stone's "If You Want Me to Stay" and recorded with his groups the Cadbury Diesel and the Mack Pack. Despite a 2005 leukemia diagnosis, Cronin also remained busy, releasing a 2008 solo album.

In 2009, LFO briefly reunited, releasing the song "Summer of My Life." However, their plans were cut short due to Cronin's ongoing health issues. He died on September 8, 2010 after a five-year battle with leukemia. Fischetti and Lima eventually relaunched LFO in 2017, releasing the song "Perfect 10." Tragically, a projected tour was again canceled late that year when Lima was diagnosed with cancer and died on November 21, 2018. In 2020, Fischetti joined fellow boy band O-Town on tour, paying homage to his late bandmates by performing LFO songs. ~ Matt Collar & Jason Ankeny, Rovi
