Biography
For Dave Marshall music was only a hobby until a friend who attended graduate school with him, Howie Fritz, a blues singer/songwriter from North Jersey, convinced him to come up on stage one night. That's when the entertainment bug bit Marshall and changed his life forever. He became a roadie for Fritz and the band, and slowly he began performing. With encouragement from his late wife, Adele, whom he lost to leukemia, he formed his own band. Adele was a huge help to Marshall's career, being legally blind and unable to drive, he relied on Adele to take him to his gigs, and she was always there for moral support. On his debut release, The Blues Told Us, in 1997, Marshall wrote some tunes dedicated to Adele. On the album, he is joined by the Mojo Band, which consists of Eric Miller on guitar and vocals, Tom Donovan on the bass and vocals, and on the drums, percussion, and vocals by Dave Beaver. Marshall does all the lead vocals with an emotional style in the Joe Cocker vein, and plays the harmonica with an equal amount of emotion and soul. He virtually makes the harmonica speak to the audience, allowing them to feel the blues as only he can portray. ~ Larry Belanger, Rovi
