Biography
Originally hailing from Lexington, Kentucky, country singer and songwriter Buffy Lawson had her heart set on being an entertainer even as a child, staging her own shows in the family home's back yard and charging neighbors to attend. After graduating high school, she set her dreams in motion and headed for Nashville, where she began singing demos for songwriters, eventually turning her attention to writing songs herself. Lawson had an affinity for it, and she took staff writing positions at various song publishing companies in Nashville, continuing to sing whenever she had an opportunity, including a stint as a backup singer for Lorrie Morgan, which is where she was spotted by a music industry executive looking to put together a female country duo. Lawson was paired with another singer and songwriter, Kristy Osmunson, to form Bomshel, who were quickly signed to Curb Records (and even given their own imprint, Bombstop! Records). The duo released an EP, Bomshel Stomp, in 2006, before Lawson left to concentrate on songwriting a year later in 2007, ending up placing songs with Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson, Randy Travis, Kenny Rogers, Dolly Parton, and others. Signing as a solo act to Sandy Knox and Katie Gillon's new Wrinkled Records label, Lawson released a debut album, I'm Leaving You for Me, in 2012. ~ Steve Leggett, Rovi
