Biography
A songwriter and producer who also maintains a solo rap career, Eskeerdo was born Alexander Izquierdo in Hialeah, Florida. He launched his career in the late 2000s with the production team the Monsters Strangerz. After work with Trina, Maino, and Ice Cube, he hit big with Flo Rida's 2010 single "Turn Around (5, 4, 3, 2, 1)." The year 2012 was huge, with work on Meek Mill's "Burn," Kanye West's "Clique," and Rihanna's "No Love Allowed," the last of which appeared on the Grammy-winning Unapologetic. Big Sean's 2013 album, Hall of Fame, featured several tracks co-written by Izquierdo, who in 2014 released his solo debut single, "For the City," used as a pregame intro song by the Miami Heat. The anthem became the lead track to his self-titled EP in 2015, the same year Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly, another Grammy-winning album featuring Izquierdo as a co-writer, was released. Fifth Harmony's "Work from Home," Izquierdo's biggest pop hit, followed in 2016, as did the Cuban Jesus EP and a batch of solo singles that continued well into 2017, highlighted by "BITTA" and "Gotta Luv It." ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
