Biography
London-based producer David Sullivan entered the dubstep scene under the name Ramadanman, originally releasing material on his eponymous label, and subsequently co-founding Hessle Audio with Ben UFO and Pangaea. Further Ramadanman releases appeared on Soul Jazz, Apple Pips, and Aus Music. Sullivan debuted his Pearson Sound alias in 2009, with a series of 12"s that increasingly showed more of a house and garage influence, as well as the burgeoning Chicago footwork scene. Sullivan began to phase out his Ramadanman alias; his 2011 Fabriclive 56 mix CD was credited to both names, but all subsequent releases (excepting two house 12"s credited to Maurice Donovan) were under the Pearson Sound moniker. A 2011 white label 12" on Night Slugs showed Sullivan nodding to two of his influences, with remixes of Baltimore club producer Rod Lee's "Let Me See What U Workin With" and Little Louie Vega side project Hardrive's "Deep Inside," and pushing the project into a more breakbeat-heavy style. Sullivan collaborated with Joy Orbison and Boddika on a 12" on their SunkLo label in 2012, and launched the Pearson Sound label the same year, with a series of singles and EPs continuing to push his bass-heavy sound into more fractured, experimental directions. Pearson Sound's self-titled full-length debut appeared on Hessle Audio in 2015. ~ Paul Simpson, Rovi
